The Southern Colorado Press Club board presents the Mel Harmon Award for exceptional service and dedication to the Pueblo community.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Dave Feamster is the youngest of three boys born to Homer and Jean Feamster. Dave received a Division I hockey scholarship to Colorado College, graduated with a Business Administration degree in 1980 and was named a first team All-American.
He was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1978, playing for five years (1980-85) before a career-ending injury.
In 1986, Dave purchased the Little Caesars Pizza franchise rights for Pueblo, opening the first restaurant in 1986. He now has seven restaurants in Pueblo, La Junta and Lamar. Through his generosity, dedication and positive outlook he has been able to improve the quality of life in southern Colorado through many wonderful organizations.
Dave is married to Jeanne Hiza and they are the proud parents of Samuel and Joseph.
