Up to $2,500 to be Awarded in Southern Colorado

Pueblo, Colo. (January 31, 2017) — This week the Southern Colorado Press Club (SCPC) announced it will be awarding grants of up to $2,500 to support the projects of individuals and/or organizations in Southern Colorado whose mission aligns with the Club’s priorities.  Types of organizations who may qualify include, but are not limited to, schools, community centers, and libraries.  Individuals can also apply, and do not need to be affiliated with an organization to qualify.  Qualified projects should be short term, with a completion date no later than June 28, 2018.

“The goal of the grant program is to create opportunities for individuals to bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to the field, or to better equip organizations to create such opportunities,” says SCPC Board President Jayson Peters.  The grant offers support for projects in the field of media, journalism, literacy, public relations, or similar.

Grant applications will be accepted from Monday, February 6 – Friday, March 10, 2017 and should be submitted to socopressclub@gmail.com. Awardees will be notified by Tuesday, May 9, 2017.  Applications can be found online at www.socopressclub.org.

The Southern Colorado Press Club provides opportunities for professional growth from the various standpoints represented by club members – news, information, public relations, advertising, development and media educators.  The Club meets monthly September through May and holds an annual fundraising dinner for mass communications scholarships.
